Dr. Kalpana Thakur, board-certified in internal medicine, leads a thriving practice at Plano Primary Care. A long time Texan, Dr. Thakur completed residency at Texas Tech Health Science Center and has served the North Dallas Community for over 15 years. She is multilingual in English, Hindi, Maithili and Bengali. She tailors treatments to her patients’ needs to address acute illnesses and encourage long-term well-being. Dr. Thakur is committed to providing compassionate, quality care in preventive medicine and management of chronic diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, thyroid and hormone disorders, weight management, asthma, and COPD

Educated in India, Dr. Thakur graduated from Pt J.N.M. Medical College Raipur. She then relocated to the United States, completed her residency in internal medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center at Amarillo in 2005.

With years of experience in her field, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists.
