A trusted obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Simmons continues to influence the field of women’s health with the goal of providing outstanding, evidence-based care while addressing the post-pandemic dynamics of the healthcare system.
Since March of 2023, she has been serving as the Chief of General Obstetrics and Gynecology at NewYork-Presbyterian / Columbia University Irving Medical Center. She is also affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian Westchester, which provides high-quality health care and access to ColumbiaDoctors in Westchester County.
Academically, Dr. Simmons graduated with her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biomedical Sciences from Florida State University. She then went on to earn her Medical Degree from the Howard University College of Medicine in Washington, D.C., after which she obtained her Master of Business Administration Degree from the Yale School of Management.
Specializing in women’s health, the doctor is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.
Prior to her current endeavors, Dr. Simmons served as a Partner Physician at Kaiser Permanente (March 2023), Director of the General OB GYN Division at Montefiore (January 2021 – March 2023), and as a Partner at WESTMED Practice Partners (July 2015 – January 2021).
Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts). An obstetrician-gynecologist specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases and disorders that affect women, such as breast cancer, cervical cancer, and menopause.
