Dr. Chitale has been a board-certified Neurosurgeon for over 27 years and has performed over 10,000 surgical procedures. Born in 1954 in a small village near Mumbai, Dr. Chitale was exposed to the rural farm life until he graduated from high school at the age of 14. He has a deep understanding of rural life and compassion for hard-working people, which he carries over into his medical practice and treatment of his patients.
Dr. Chitale attended college in the major metropolis of Mumbai. He then immigrated to the United States, where he completed his residency and fellowship training in neurosurgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Dr. Chitale Founded Premier NeuroSurgical Institute in 2010. The purpose of the Institute is to provide global attention to patients’ neurosurgical needs and to give patients a personalized experience. At Premier Neurosurgical, patients can receive an in office diagnostic evaluation with X-rays and MRI imaging all in the same visit. This shortens the time a patient goes without treatment and expeditiously takes decision making to the next level of therapeutic intervention, be it surgical or nonsurgical. In April 2013 Premier Ambulatory Surgical Center was opened to provide minimally invasive surgical treatment for a variety of cervical, lumbar, and peripheral nerve conditions.
Dr. Chitale is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). The ACS is a scientific and educational association of surgeons that was founded in 1913 to improve the quality of care for the surgical patient by setting high standards for surgical education and practice. Members of the American College of Surgeons are referred to as “Fellows.” Furthermore, Dr. Chitale is a Fellow of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and a member of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
Neurosurgery is the medical specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, surgical treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders which affect any portion of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and extra-cranial cerebrovascular system. As a neurosurgeon, Dr. Chitale’s areas of clinical interest are cranial brain tumors and aneurysms, cervical/lumbar disc surgeries, and complex spinal fusions. The services he offers include minimally invasive spine surgery, microscope assisted microsurgery, lumbar and cervical decompression, lumbar and cervical microdiscectomy, spinal cord stimulation, pain modulation therapy, and many more.
