Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Emil Blanco, who serves patients in Connecticut. 

Dr. Blanco is a general gastroenterologist with particular interests in diseases of the liver and malignancies of the gastrointestinal tract. He joined Gastroenterology Associates of Fairfield County in 2003.

With offices in Bridgeport, Fairfield, and Trumbull, Gastroenterology Associates of Fairfield County is dedicated to medical excellence. The providers believe in providing exceptional care and strive for compassion and integrity. They are committed to maintaining state-of-the-art medical expertise in diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal and hepatic disorders.

A 1997 graduate of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Dr. Blanco went on to perform his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in gastroenterology at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University.

Following his education, he attained board certification in internal medicine and gastroenterology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Licensed to practice medicine in Connecticut, Dr. Blanco is affiliated with Saint Vincent’s Medical Center Hartford HealthCare in Bridgeport.   He sees patients in Fairfield and performs procedures at the Endoscopy Center of Fairfield and at Saint Vincent’s Hospital.

In order to stay current in his field, he remains an active member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. A gastroenterologist is a physician who has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system.

On a more personal note, Dr. Blanco enjoys spending his free time with his wife and two sons.  He likes to ski, golf, hike, bike and travel.
