Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Cheryl Perlis, who serves patients in Lake Bluff, Illinois.
Dr. Perlis is a board-certified physician who specializes in natural hormonal therapy, brain and body biochemistry, and aesthetic procedures. She was trained as a conventional obstetrician-gynecologist, and then found her calling in functional/integrative medicine.
In private practice since 1990, she is the owner & operator of Perlis Wellness Center in Lake Bluff, Illinois. Sharing her knowledge on energy, vitality, and motivation, she has been helping hundreds of men and women look and feel their best at any stage of life with advanced cosmetic procedures and bioidentical hormone therapies.
Following the completion of her Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from University of Illinois College of Medicine at Champaign-Urbana, Dr. Perlis went on to obtain her medical degree from the Chicago Medical School – Rosalind Franklin University. She then served her residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Wanting to further her training, she completed a Bioidentical Hormone Initiative Physician Training and Mentorship Program led by Erika Schwartz, MD (NYC). She also completed Advanced Cosmetic Training in Botox and Dermal Fillers led by Mark Bailey, MD (Canada), and trained at the Walsh Research Institute Physician in Advanced Nutrient Therapy Protocols for Brain and Body Biochemical Imbalances. In 2017, she completed an Aesthetic BluePrint Course using the BeautiPHication™ technique with Dr. Arthur Swift.
Having studied and trained nationwide under top doctors and thought leaders in their specialties, Dr. Perlis continually learns cutting edge medical information and procedures to benefit her clients. A Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), she is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada.
Emphasizing preventative care, natural medicine, and patient education, Dr. Perlis has personal experience in her areas of specialization. When a bout of Bell’s palsy during her pregnancy left the right side of her face immovable, she discovered the benefits of botox® and dermal fillers and began training with one of the leading injectors in North America. When she uncovered a hormone imbalance that was causing her low energy, weight gain, and foggy thinking in middle age, she experienced the benefits of hormonal therapy and advanced nutrient therapy, which she now offers as treatments in her practice.
Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts). An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health.
In her personal life, Dr. Perlis is married to Stan, her practice administrator, and they have three children: twins, Adam and Seth, as well as a younger daughter, Elliana. She is a dedicated environmentalist with a passion for animals and enjoys paddle boarding, doing hot yoga and gyrotonic, sailing, hiking, scuba diving, reading, as well as spending time with her family.
