Get to know Psychologist Dr. Naveena Hemanth, who serves the Washington DC area at her private practice. Dr. Hemanth attended medical school at Bangalore Medical College and continued her studies with an internship in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital. She later undertook a residency in psychiatry at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. Afterwards, Dr. Hemanth completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Children’s National Medical Center. Dr. Hemanth is board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Having been in practice for over twenty years, Dr. Hemanth sees patients of all ages in her private practice with two locations–one in Laurel, MD and the other in Rockville, MD. Patients usually visit Dr. Hemanth because they have been experiencing depression, anxiety, stress or anger for a significant period of time and are seeking help. She holds a Maryland Medical License through 2020. Dr. Hemanth specializes in the treatment of mental health issues and helps people cope with their mental illnesses. As a psychologist, Dr. Hemanth evaluates and treats patients through a variety of methods, most typically being psychotherapy or talk therapy. Additionally, she helps patients find prescribing doctors if she finds they need medication-assisted plans. Psychology is the science of behavior and mind, including conscious and unconscious phenomena, as well as feeling and thought.
