Get to know Endocrinologist Dr. Joseph A. Rosa, who serves patients in Trumbull, Connecticut.

A seasoned endocrinologist, Dr. Rosa is affiliated with Northeast Medical Group, working with patients in Trumbull, Connecticut.

In regards to his educational background, he received his medical degree from the Universidad del Noreste in Mexico in 1982. Upon relocating to the United States, he completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in 1986. Finally, he completed his fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at the University of Connecticut Medical Center in 1988.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in endocrinology, diabetes, metabolism and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Endocrinology is a branch of biology and medicine dealing with the endocrine system, its diseases, and its specific secretions known as hormones. Endocrinologists have the training to diagnose and treat hormone imbalances and problems by helping to restore the normal balance of hormones in the body. The common diseases and disorders of the endocrine system that endocrinologists deal with include diabetes mellitus, as well as adrenal, pituitary, and thyroid disorders, among others.
