Get to know Pediatrician Dr. George L. Blum, who serves patients in Bingham Farms, Michigan. Dr. Blum specializes in pediatrics, allergies, and immunology. Dr. Blum is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). Founded in 1933, the ABP is one of the 24 certifying boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). It is an independent, nonprofit organization whose certificate is recognized throughout the world as a credential signifying a high level of physician competence. After receiving his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1955, Dr. Blum went on to complete his residencies in Pediatrics with the Children’s Hospital of Michigan and University of Michigan Health System. He also completed a rotating internship with University of Michigan Health System. Dr. Blum is past President of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), Michigan Chapter. The AAP is an organization of 67 ,000 pediatricians committed to the optimal physical, mental, and social health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. Dr. Blum is also a Fellow of the AAP. Any Fellow of the AAP may nominate a Fellow, or themselves, for a National Committee chairperson or member position. Committee appointments are made on the basis of knowledge, expertise, and the documented needs of the Committee. Dr. Blum is a Clinical Associate Professor at Wayne State University Medical School and a member of the Board of Governors for the University of Michigan Alumni Society. Furthermore, he is Secretary Treasurer for the University of Michigan Pediatric Alumni Society. Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. Pediatricians are medical doctors who are responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses.
