Subsequent to the completion of his internship and internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1993, Dr. Stein completed his fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in 1995.

Licensed to practice in Tennessee, Dr. Stein is board-certified in internal medicine and the subspecialty of gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
