Get to know Dentist Dr. Richard A. Bona Jr, who serves patients in Lansing, Illinois.

Dr. Bona is a highly respected and experienced dental professional with a rich educational background and a wealth of expertise in the field of dentistry. His areas of specialization encompass a wide range of dental services, including dental implant restorations, full and partial denture construction, cosmetic procedures, and adult dental rehabilitation. 

Back in the early days of his academic career, he earned his DDS from the University of Illinois in 1978, and continued to enhance his skills by obtaining a Certificate in Prosthodontics from Marquette University in 1984.

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. Bona is affiliated with prominent professional organizations, including the Illinois State Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and the Chicago Dental Society. 

As for his academic appointment, the doctor held the position of Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Illinois, College of Dentistry, from 1984 to 2021. Additionally, he served as a Clinical Faculty Instructor at Prairie State College, Department of Dental Hygiene, from 2008 to 2021, further contributing to the education and training of dental hygiene students.

Dr. Bona’s passion for education extends beyond the classroom, as he has shared his expertise through teaching and speaking engagements. He has conducted multiple participation courses on denture repairs, presenting at prestigious events such as the Chicago Dental Society Midwinter Meeting, the New Orleans Dental Conference, the Florida Dental Association, and the American Dental Association annual session.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.

Outside the realm of dentistry, Dr. Bona finds joy in travel. His favorite places to vacation include the sunny retreats of Florida during the winter and exploring the natural wonders of National Parks during the summer.
