When can I drink alcohol after a root canal?
You must consider several factors; first, are you on an antibiotic? Most of them recommend not to have alcohol while taking the medication. Second, will you receive a prescription for a "pain killer" ? Avoid alcohol if you are taking a narcotic, bad and possibly a deadly combination. Third, if you are numbed up, could be quite sloppy trying to drink anything! Discuss with your dentist what happens after the procedure and his advice. READ MORE

If you are that worried, go to the ER or urgent care. Usually, the antibiotics take 2 days to work. Brush the area with a clean toothbrush and hydrogen peroxide from the store, it may help. If you feel you have breathing problems from the swelling, ER for sure. READ MORE
