I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 1963 and have seen many different doctors since. I had a great relationship with my last Endocrinologist, Paul Tomasic, who retired a year or so ago and referred me to another Endocrinologist in the Health Care Partners Practice – Chard Bubb – who is absolutely no comparison to the high-caliber physician that Dr. Tomasic was! Dr. Bubb is all about Chard Bubb! My last appointment was 9/15/2020, because I had been a month without test strips and he refused to pre-authorize additional strips for me through Medicare. And When he walked into the office, he began to scold me. (I’m 64 years old and have been Type 1 Diabetic for 57 of those years. I don’t need a scolding.) “What doctor, in his right mind would prescribe you to test your blood-glucose 8 times per day?” he yelled. Luckily, I had the CVS prescription receipt with me, so I gave it to him, and replied, “YOU! Read it! It says: ‘Use 1 Test Stri8 times per day.’” So, then he goes into a tirade of lies in an attempt to cover for himself. And I didn’t realize until I got home that some of those lies and parts of the conversation were mistakenly recorded on my new phone! “We talked about this before,” he lie, lie, lied, “and I told you that Medicare won’t cover more than 3 test strips per day!” “The CVS Pharmacist said they will,” I calmly replied, “but you have to write a pre-authorization for me to get more. And you have to write the prescription as a DME, because I’m on a pump.” (Durable Medical Equipment) “It’s illegal for a doctor to write a prescription for Plan A or B or C or D or E for Medicare!” he shouted. “I said DME, Sir,” I interrupted, “And every Endocrinologist I’ve seen writes ALL my scripts for pump supplies as DME!” “I don’t!” he shouted as he got up to walk out. “Well then order me a Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitor through Byram Healthcare. Medicare covers those and I need some way to monitor my blood sugars.” I said. He paused for a moment to write it dawn, then told me, “Okay, I’ll check into it! Anything else?” “Yeah, you’re a moron!” I thought, as he walked through the door. That was on 9/15/2020 and, 3 WEEKS LATER, I still haven’t heard anything from Byram Healthcare about my Continuous Glucose Monitor nor do I have any test-strips! In my opinion, Chard Bubb is the worst doctor I’ve ever seen. He’s the lowest of low and I’m real surprised he hasn’t been sued yet. I can’t even believe he’s licensed to practice medicine. He’s got the bedside manner of a roofing tile and I’m gonna’ have to fire him for that! BTW: Health Partners of Nevada has changed its name to Intermountain Healthcare. Perhaps they’d be a better operation if they changed a few of their doctors…….
