Get to know Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist Dr. Lalita D. Ramnaraine, who serves patients in Gainesville, Florida. 

Dr. Ramnaraine is a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist whose clinical interests include child and adolescent depression, anxiety disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder. She has also experience treating attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and disruptive behavior disorders. She uses a variety of treatment modalities including interpersonal psychotherapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, parent management training, and psychopharmacology.

In the Department of Psychiatry, Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Florida College of Medicine, Dr. Ramnaraine serves on the courtesy faculty. She provides on-site supervision for the child psychiatry fellows during their community mental health rotation at Meridian Behavioral Healthcare in Gainesville, Florida. This role allows her to gain experience in treating under-served populations.

Born and raised in New York City, she completed her undergraduate training and first two years of medical school through the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education located on the CUNY campus in Manhattan, New York. She completed the remaining years of medical school at SUNY Downstate Medical School in Brooklyn, where she earned her medical degree.

After migrating to Gainesville, Dr. Ramnaraine went on to complete her residency in adult psychiatry and her fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Florida. Before long, she became board-certified in general psychiatry. She is also board eligible for child and adolescent psychiatry.
