Dr. Surya Narayan Mulukutla grew up in South Texas before moving to Houston as a Rice University / Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) medical scholar.
After medical school, he remained at BCM for residency training in both internal medicine and pediatrics, as well as dual fellowship training in both pediatric and adult diabetes and endocrinology. He has received commendations for clinical excellence as well as scholarly contributions from BCM and the Endocrine Society. He is board certified in pediatric and adult diabetes and endocrinology.
He returned to South Texas in 2017 and continues to see patients with diabetes and endocrinology issues across the age spectrum ranging from a few hours old to >90 years old. He currently practices at DHR Health with an appointment at UT Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine where he serves as the associate program director for the adult endocrinology fellowship. He is recognized as a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Physicians, and American College of Endocrinology.

Dr. Mulukutla’s professional journey began in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he grew up. He then moved to Houston to become a Rice University / Baylor College of Medicine Medical Scholar. After receiving his medical degree, he stayed at Baylor College of Medicine to complete his residency training in both internal medicine and pediatrics, as well as dual fellowship training in both pediatric and adult endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism.
His dual fellowship training allowed him to spend time with the nation’s experts learning how to treat a variety of conditions ranging from pediatric thyroid disorders at Texas Children’s Hospital to endocrine cancers at MD Anderson Cancer Center. During this time, he received commendations for clinical excellence as well as scholarly contributions from Baylor College of Medicine and the Endocrine Society.
As a testament of his continued education, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine, adult endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism & pediatric endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
