Get to know Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Gregory Tennant, who serves patients in Lancaster, California.

Dr. Tennant is a fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeon with 15 years of experience, providing care in both the inpatient and outpatient setting.

Currently, he works at AVORS Medical Group, operating out of the office in Lancaster, California. He rounds all orthopedic consults at Palmdale Regional Medical Center, Antelope Valley Hospital, and Providence Holy Cross.

His subspecialty focuses on the care and management of complex fractures and trauma, including pelvic and acetabular fractures. In addition, Dr. Tennant was one of the first surgeons trained in the use of Carbon Fiber implants and Far Cortical Locking techniques. He was instrumental in developing the trauma program at Southern California Kaiser Permanente Medical Group and now brings his expertise to the Antelope Valley.

Treating his patients the way he would treat his own family, Dr. Tennant believes in treating people, not just injuries. He offers both operative and non-operative treatment based on what is best for the patient. He uses the most up-to-date techniques and implants to provide the best outcome for his patients, and likes to see them get back to living their lives as quickly as possible.

Growing up in Virginia, it was there that Dr. Tennant was a competitive swimmer and played water polo on both his college and regional club teams. He graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Virginia in 1993. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Nova Southeastern University Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Furthering his training, he completed his residency and was chief resident at Grandview-Kettering Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. He then continued his education and went on to complete his fellowship in orthopedic traumatology & pelvic and acetabular surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. 

A Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (FAAOS), Dr. Tennant is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Osteopathic Board of Orthopedic Surgery (AOBOS). The AOBOS is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system.

A member of the prestigious AO Trauma teaching faculty, Dr. Tennant has authored part of the current teaching textbook. 

Orthopedic surgery is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopedic surgeons use both surgical and non-surgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, sports injuries, degenerative diseases, infections, tumors, and congenital disorders.

Outside of the office, Dr. Tennant enjoys skiing with his wife, Laura, and their two daughters. He is an avid film and music lover.
