Can you move your elbow if it's dislocated?
I recommend having a chiropractor put it back in place to ensure injury does not worsen. Because the elbow is only partially dislocated, the bones can spontaneously relocate and the joint may appear fairly normal. The elbow will usually move fairly well, but there may be pain. There may be bruising on the inside and outside of the elbow where ligaments may have been stretched or torn. READ MORE
Is sleeping on your side bad for your shoulders?
Sleeping positions can be tricky. I like to tell patients to imagine that the way you are currently laying is how you are standing, would you stand that way? Pillow thickness is a big thing, make sure the pillow is not too thick or thin to avoid having your neck bent to one side. READ MORE
Can a chiropractor help tight back muscles?
Yes! When you go in for a visit, the chiropractor will examine your spinal column to see if there are any restrictions that may be contributing to feelings of tightness and rigidness throughout the body. These restrictions, which are also known as misalignments, often lead to decreased flexibility in the surrounding joints and muscles. They can also cause increased inflammation in the area, which only exacerbates these symptoms. A chiropractor will use manual manipulation techniques in order to safely and effectively remove these restrictions that may be causing your stiffness. Many patients experience feeling "looser" and "lighter" after just one session of chiropractic. Patients who see a chiropractor on a regular basis benefit even further. READ MORE
Can a chiropractor help with plantar fasciitis?
There are several treatment options available for plantar fasciitis, but you will want to consider the many benefits of chiropractic care when it comes to treating this condition. Chiropractic treatment can: Reduce the stress in the ligament – The reason you are suffering from plantar fasciitis is because of the stress placed upon the ligament causing the tiny tears. If you don’t take steps to reduce this stress, then you will continue to experience pain and inflammation. Your chiropractor can help take some of the stress off the ligament and give it a chance to heal through adjustments. Minimize secondary injuries – Remember that one of the things that can happen when you suffer this condition is a change in your gait in order to try to reduce the pain you are experiencing. When you use chiropractic care as a part of your treatment plan, you can help to minimize the misalignments caused by a change in your gait – misalignments that if left untreated can cause problems in other parts of your body, including your ankles, knees, hips and lower back. Goes well with other treatments – Because chiropractic is a natural and non-invasive treatment, it often works well in conjunction with other treatments for this condition such as massage or physical therapy. Can a chiropractor fix shoulder impingement?
Yes! The first step in this treatment will be to realign your spine Specifically focusing on the thoracic and cervical region as well as the shoulder joints, and make sure there are no abnormalities that could be causing or exacerbating the impingement. This can help to reduce normal wear and tear on the affected shoulder joint. READ MORE

How can I treat a dull pain in my neck?
For long term relief I recommend Corrective Care with a Chiropractor in your area. In the meantime, stretching and foam rolling will ease your symptoms as well as help improve posture. Changing your computer set up can change your posture dramatically. Standing desks, or lumbar support, or just raising the computer screen, or lowering your chair, can all result in less pain. What can I do about my knee pain?
I would if it has been more than 3 days of pain, especially if it swells/bruises/aches with prolonged standing or bending. For at home care until you are able to see a chiropractor, I recommend R.I.C.E for your knee as well as stretching. Stay away from heating pads it can cause inflammation. READ MORE
What happens if a herniated disc goes untreated?
If the pain is excruciating or interferes with your ability to perform normal tasks, you should seek the advice of a chiropractor. Your herniated disc will eventually worsen; it’s just the nature of the disease. If you leave a herniated disc untreated, you may experience pain that radiates down the buttocks, legs, and feet (also known as sciatica), pain that radiates down the shoulders, arms, and hands, tingling or numbness in the legs or feet, muscle weakness or spasms intense, sharp pains, partial paralysis, or the inability to control bowel movements in relatively dire situations. Is chiropractic care necessary for children?
The birthing process can be traumatic for the baby, as well as the mother. Depending on the nature of the birth, slight spinal imbalances or micro-traumas can be created. If not treated, these can lead to issues, such as the baby favoring holding its head to one side to breathing difficulties. A child’s body encounters a variety of physical stresses as it grows, which can create imbalances with joint alignment or muscular function. These can also affect development, possibly leading to the development of serious issues later. Until the age of six, a child’s spine is mostly cartilaginous. In the presence of abnormal function, cartilage can deform. For this reason, it’s crucial to ensure that function is restored to normal. Spinal subluxation can occur without symptoms, however, there are patterns that parents can watch for. Sleeping difficulties, restricted range of motion of the head and neck, one shoulder higher than another, and breastfeeding difficulties can all point to spinal health issues. Many parents bring their newborns in for screening as early as possible to give their child opportunity to recover from the stress of the birthing process. Early adjustments can help the newborn to develop properly, free from imbalances. Children respond more quickly to adjustments than adults. So, they generally only need a couple sessions initially, followed by periodic maintenance. It’s advised to bring children in for visits as one would for “well child“ visits, as well as at development milestones – holding head up, sitting, walking, etc. There are many benefits for pediatric chiropractic care as well as many reasons to bring children in. Can chiropractors help anxiety?
Chiropractics can help with some side effects of anxiety however it cannot eliminate the cause of it. The cause of anxiety differs for each person and there can be multiple causes. Several studies that support the idea that chiropractic care, as well as massage therapy, can lower blood pressure and stress symptoms. High blood pressure is a common symptom of anxiety and/or stress. This is a clear indicator that chiropractic care can reduce anxiety and stress symptoms, and help people with mental health issues feel more stable. The goal of every chiropractor is to find the right balance between your mind and your body. A chiropractor does this by examining all health areas, including adjustments, therapies, exercise, diet, and supplements. Even the smallest changes, such as adding an omega-3 supplement into your diet, can have an impact on anxiety symptoms. Your spinal health can influence every region of your body. After getting a chiropractic adjustment, your body triggers an increase in hormones like neurotensin, oxytocin, and cortisol. Each of those hormones will play a different role in reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety. Neurotensin will neutralize stress-induced pain Oxytocin boosts neuro-communication and feelings of social bonding Cortisol blocks the pain from inflammation A spinal adjustment can have an extremely positive impact after these hormones are triggered throughout your body. It's very common for patients with anxiety and/or depression to also suffer from muscular tension. Chiropractic care can reduce the tension and stiffness they experience. It can also relieve pain related to tension headaches, as many patients who live with mental health disorders also live with migraines. This relief can have a huge impact on those with anxiety and/or depression by removing the painful symptoms. Generally speaking, chiropractic care, along with massage therapy, can also help reduce pain in patients with mental health diagnoses. Insomnia is a common symptom of anxiety and/or depression. After visiting the chiropractor, most patients find it easier to fall asleep at night. Studies have also found that some chiropractic manipulation can improve patients sleep patterns. If you struggle with insomnia, chiropractic care can help. Learn more about the best sleeping positions here. Chiropractic care has also been found to relax patients. The atmosphere alone of a chiropractic session can make patients feel less stressed and their muscles more relaxed. Studies that have measured electrical activity in muscles found that after a chiropractic adjustment, muscle activity was reduced y about 25%. This is great evidence that a chiropractic session can help you feel more relaxed. That kind of relaxation can help patients suffering from stress and tension as a result of anxiety and/or depression. READ MORE
What will happen if scoliosis is not treated?
If it is not treated the degree of scoliosis will usually become worse due to the continual loading on the spine during normal daily activities. The spine will buckle under the added load and the curve will become worse. Women have a further aspect to consider. During pregnancy the load on the spine increases dramatically, and the best way to prevent future problems associated with pregnancy is to deal with the scoliosis when it reaches a significant level during these earlier years. The untreated severe scoliosis is a substantial problem. Studies indicate that the quality and length of life are markedly effected by scoliosis. The prevalence of backache is twice that of the normal population, unemployment and the rate of disability pensions are high, poor self-image is common, and the majority do not marry. Respiratory and cardiac problems also become common, causing further severe disability and reduced life expectancy. The consequences are not immediate, it takes years for the effects to worsen.
