A fellowship-trained endocrinologist, Dr. Robertson is a Partner at Atlanta Diabetes Associates, and has been with this practice since 1998. He also serves as an attending physician at Piedmont Hospital Atlanta. 

In addition to general endocrinology, his practice focuses on metabolic risks for cardiovascular disease and endocrine disease in transplant patients. He has a particular interest in thyroid disorders, osteoporosis, pituitary disease, adrenal dysfunction, and complications of type 1 and type 2 disease. His team consists of physician assistants who have expertise in these areas as well.

Within his practice, Dr. Robertson is involved in numerous clinical trials related to the treatment of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes, the treatment of hypothyroidism, the treatment of hypercholesterolemia, and treatments of hypogonadism. He has published papers in many of these areas.

Prior to his association with Piedmont Hospital, he was a National Institute of Health investigator at Emory University who received a Physician Scientist Award focused on the regulation of gene expression by insulin in primary hepatocyte and adipocyte cultures.

A 1983 graduate of the Emory University School of Medicine, Dr. Robertson went on to further his training at the said establishment. He performed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism in 1986 and 1990, respectively. 

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in internal medicine & endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Prior to his current endeavors, Dr. Robertson was in practice at the Emory Clinic for six years. He was also a part of the faculty at the Emory University School of Medicine. His faculty association was with both the Division of Endocrinology and the Division of Arteriosclerosis and Lipid Metabolism. 

Among his professional affiliations, he is an active member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, and the National Lipid Association.
