She then went on to perform her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 1997. This was followed by an oncologic pathology fellowship in 2001 and breast pathology fellowship in 2002, both at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York.
Excelling in her profession, the doctor is board-certified in anatomic pathology by the American Board of Pathology (ABPath). The mission of the ABPath is to promote the health of the public and advance the practice and science of pathology by establishing voluntary certification standards and assessing the qualifications of those seeking to practice the specialty of pathology.
A member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Dr. Torres-Matundan is a Fellow of the College of American Pathologists (FCAP) and a Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (FASCP). She is also President of the Board of Directors at Puerto Rico Pathology.
