Get to know Physiatrist Dr. William C. Murphy, who serves patients in Media, Pennsylvania.

A highly experienced physiatrist, Dr. Murphy utilizes a multi-faceted approach including medication, injection therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy to reduce pain, maximize independent function, and improve quality of life. He is affiliated with Riddle Hospital in Media, Pennsylvania.

A part of Main Line Health, Riddle Hospital offers a full range of health care services including maternity services, orthopaedic care and cardiovascular care. All of the services are aided by a dedicated team of healthcare professionals and advanced technology. Some services, including physical, occupational and speech therapy, are also provided at outpatient therapy locations throughout the region.

Back in 1990, Dr. Murphy graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then went on to perform his internship at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Graduate Hospital – Tenet Healthcare.

A member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, he is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation by the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AOBPMR). The AOBPMR is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the treatment of patients with physical impairments or disabilities.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also known as physiatry and physiatrics, is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Physiatrists treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons. 

In honor of his clinical expertise, Dr. Murphy is the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2012, 2013, 2018), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2015, 2016, 2018), and On-Time Doctor Award (2018).
