Get to know a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon Dr. Russell W. H. Kridel, who serves patients in Houston, Texas.

Dr. Kridel is a triple board-certified facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon whose international reputation as one of the best facial plastic surgeons draws patients, including other physicians and their family members, from all over the country. He is often referred to as “The Doctors’ Doctor.”

At present, he is serving patients at Facial Plastic Surgery Associates in Houston, Texas. There, he and Dr. Angela Sturm perform facial plastic surgery with the belief that a highly skilled and trained specialist can offer exceptional care in one area. The award-winning practice is considered one of the most sought after facial plastic surgery centers in the country, offering rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty, facelift, browlift, eyelid surgery, facial rejuvenation, and more.

Additionally, Dr. Kridel serves on the faculty at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston as a Clinical Professor and Director of the Division of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, part of the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He is also on the medical staff of several Houston hospitals, including Methodist Hospital.

As his skills are well known and widely admired, he has trained thousands of surgeons from around the world. Surgeons come to visit him in his private practice in Houston and travel to medical courses to hear him lecture. They consistently refer to the plethora of scientific articles and textbook chapters he has authored to help advance their own surgical skills.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Kridel earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1975. He then went on to complete his internship and his residencies in general surgery and in otolaryngology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, followed by his fellowship with the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 1981.

In 1995, he established The Face Foundation charitable program. The Face Foundation provides surgical care at no fee to financially disadvantaged individuals who are survivors of domestic violence and need to receive restorative or reconstructive facial plastic surgery, especially battered women and children.

An activist for excellence in health care delivery, Dr. Kridel believes better health care for patients comes, in part, from a physicians’ dedication to developing medical advancements at all levels. He has served as President of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Texas Medical Association Foundation, and the Harris County Medical Society. In 2014, he was elected to the American Medical Association Board of Trustees and is currently the Chair-Elect.

Dr. Kridel understands that patients need individualized care based on their goals and expectations to achieve the most natural results. Through his extensive experience and outstanding surgical skills, he leads his patients through this highly personal process of rejuvenation, whether it is a minimally invasive treatment or a complete cosmetic transformation.

Cosmetic facial plastic surgery is surgery performed to enhance the visual appearance of the facial structures and features. Common procedures include facelifts, eye lifts, rhinoplasty, chin and cheek implants, liposuction, and procedures to correct facial wrinkles. Reconstructive surgery is performed to treat structures of the body affected aesthetically or functionally by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors or disease. As a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Kridel specializes in procedures for the face and neck, exclusively. He has pioneered surgical techniques for rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty, facelifts, and septal perforation, that are now taught in medical schools across the country. His unparalleled surgical expertise and compassion puts his patients at ease so they can embark on their surgical journey with confidence.

He is the most noted in the U.S. for an extremely high success rate for complex septal perforation surgery. He also has extensive experience performing many other cosmetic procedures such as otoplasty, eyelid surgery, CO2 laser resurfacing, hair restoration, and other leading-edge, non-surgical treatments.
