Get to know Nuclear Medicine Specialist Dr. Puneet Chandak, who serves patients in Fremont, California.

An experienced nuclear medicine specialist, Dr. Chandak is the President and Medical Director of Silicon Valley Medical Imaging, based in Fremont, California.

Silicon Valley Medical Imaging (SVMI) is the leading outpatient radiology facility providing high quality diagnostic services to the East San Francisco Bay Area community. They specialize in cancer, heart, and brain imaging utilizing PET-CT, MRI, CT, Ultrasound, Doppler, Echocardiography, and Nuclear Medicine procedures.

Born and raised in India, Dr. Chandak earned his medical degree from the Delhi University College of Medical Sciences in 1989, and completed a residency in nuclear medicine at the same educational venue in 1992. He then went on to complete a postdoctoral fellowship in medical informatics at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam, The Netherlands in 1994.

Upon relocating to the United States, he completed an additional residency in nuclear medicine at UCSF in 2000, before completing a fellowship in PET-CT Imaging at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in 2001.

An expert in his field, the doctor is board-certified in nuclear medicine by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine, which certifies physicians as specialists in the practice of nuclear medicine.

Remaining up to date in his field, Dr. Chandak is a proud member of the Radiological Society of North America, the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, the California Medical Association, and the American Medical Association.

Nuclear medicine is a medical specialty involving the application of radioactive substances in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Nuclear medicine physicians are medical specialists who use tracers, usually radiopharmaceuticals, for diagnosis and therapy.
