Omar Zalatimo, MD MPH MHA FAANS is a board certified (ABNS) neurosurgeon, fellowship trained in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery practicing in Baltimore, MD. He obtained his medical doctorate from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and continued his training at Penn State Hershey Medical Center for his general surgery internship, neurosurgery residency and fellowship in functional and stereotactic neurosurgery. While at Penn State, he also earned Master’s degrees in Public Health and Health Administration.
In 2014, Dr. Zalatimo accepted the position of Director of Functional Neurosurgery for LifeBridge Health at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. In 2016, he was also named the Director of the Comprehensive Spine Program and serves as spine faculty for the Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. He has been recognized through multiple awards, including Alpha Omega Alpha, Mark J. Young International Health Policy award, and repeatedly as a Baltimore Top Doc by Baltimore Magazine.
Dr. Zalatimo has worked with LifeBridge Health since 2014. He served as Director of the Comprehensive Spine Program and the Functional Neurosurgery Program. He has been a speaker both domestically and internationally at neurosurgery conferences. His research interests include cost effectiveness, outcomes analysis, and quality improvement in neurosurgery. He has published more than 75 articles, book chapters and abstracts on various neurosurgical and public health topics. He has served as a reviewer for Neurosurgery, Clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery, British Medical Journal Cases, Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, and JSM Neurosurgery and Spine.
