  • How can you fix gum pain from dentures?

Once you begin to have gum pain, or any kind of discomfort from your dentures it is best to make a dental appointment right away. All you may need is a simple denture adjustment, or perhaps if there has been changes with your mouth you could require a reline of the denture. If you let the situation linger it can cause you to be in unnecessary pain and discomfort. READ MORE

  • Are implant retained dentures good?

Implant retained dentures are very beneficial and functional. The implants or "implant locators", give great retention to keep the dentures in place. And because the dentures are snug and locked on the implants, the patient is given great eating function and comfort, along with self confidence because the dentures can not slip while talking. This is a wonderful choice of treatment when dealing with boneloss that naturally occurs because of missing teeth. READ MORE

  • How long after the root canal can I eat?

After root canal treatment, you can eat once the anesthetic has worn off and you do not feel "numb" any more. Especially if you have had a root canal on any of your lower arch teeth, usually in that area the whole half of the arch where the root canal was done will be numb. You do not want to bite yourself accidentally as it could be painful once the numbness is gone. Another important piece of advice is to avoid anything hard, or too crunchy on the tooth that had the root canal to avoid fracturing of the tooth, and if you were seen by a Root Canal Specialist, an Endodontist, get in to see your General Dentist to have a crown placed as soon as possible. • Do I need a root canal for a crown?

No, you do not need a root canal for a crown. A root canal is needed if there is deep decay, a present abscess, or an undetermined tooth pain that could be caused by a fracture. You will need a crown though if your tooth required a root canal to protect it. Teeth that have had root canal treatment in time are susceptible to fracture. READ MORE

  • Should I get local or general anesthesia for wisdom teeth?

General Anesthesia normally is best for 3rd molar extractions. This type of extraction can be quite difficult for the patient as well as for the Dentist. Patient comfort may not be optimum, so General Anesthesia helps tremendously. The procedure is done while the patient is asleep, so it can be done quicker and easier. READ MORE

Always follow the instructions given after surgery. Sometimes you may be given instructions prior to the surgery too. What ever the instance is be compliant and listen to your dentist. • How can I help my cracked tooth?

When you have a "cracked" tooth or some kind of fracture and you cannot get to a dentist right away, it is best to stay away from anything hard or crunchy on that side. You may have some sensitivity to temperatures with a fractured tooth, so avoid extreme differences of temperatures - either very cold (ice cream) or hot (coffee). With some fractures, there is always the possibility of losing your tooth, so I stress the importance of seeing a dentist as soon as possible. READ MORE

  • Can flossing whiten your teeth?

While flossing does not "whiten" your teeth, it does remove the plaque that can be a yellow to an orange color, which will make your teeth appear to be a different shade and even dull with no luster. Flossing will keep them looking cleaner and the gums healthy, which will give your teeth and smile a better over all appearance. In-office whitening or home whitening from your Dentist will then help your teeth to look their pearly white best. READ MORE

If you are not in a hurry and have the time, Invisalign may be just what you need. READ MORE
