Get to know Dermatologist Dr. Richard G. Asarch, who serves patients in Colorado. 

Dr. Asarch, a reputable dermatologist, is the Head of Asarch Dermatology with offices in Englewood, Castle Rock, and Lakewood, Colorado & its accompanying state-of-the-art DERMAspa. He set up his dermatology and medical DERMAspa practices across the hall from each other, to give patients instant access when medical and cosmetic dermatological issues intertwine.

Evaluating and adopting the latest advances in the field, Dr. Asarch has spent more than 40 years practicing dermatology. Specializing in skin care, his areas of speciality include: Mohs micrographic surgery, dermatologic surgery, cosmetic dermatologic surgery, dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, dermatopathology, procedural dermatology, and dermatologic research. He introduced Mohs micrographic surgery, the procedure that has the highest cure rate for all skin cancers, to the State of Colorado in 1977 after he had studied with Dr. Frederic Mohs in Madison, Wisconsin. In 1983, Dr. Asarch was the first doctor in Colorado to incorporate laser treatments for skin issue correction.

Alongside his clinical role, he is an Associate Clinical Professor within the Department of Dermatology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Asarch graduated with his medical degree from the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa in 1969. After he completed his internship at Good Samaritan Hospital in Oregon, he served as a General Medical Officer at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, Washington. He studied for a year in the Department of Otolaryngology and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Iowa, followed by another year of general surgery residency at the same institution. 

A member of the American College of Mohs Surgery, he is board-certified in dermatology and dermatopathology by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD). The ABD is a voluntary, non-profit, private, autonomous organization formed for the primary purpose of protecting the public interest by establishing and maintaining high standards of training, education, and qualifications of physicians rendering care in dermatology.

An innovator in skin health, Dr. Asarch published his first book, “Turn Back Your Face Years” after studying the aging process of patients’ skin over decades. His theories on how skin ages and how that process could be remedied include dietary aspects he has addressed in his second book, “Beautiful Skin Diet” – recipes with ingredients that promote healthier skin.

These two pieces, topical skin care and diet, are two facets of what Dr. Asarch calls the four spheres in a complete skincare regime. The other two spheres are prevention and procedures. He practices his four-sphere theory out of his dermatology offices.

Dermatology is the branch of medicine dealing with the skin, the largest organ of the body; a specialty with both medical and surgical aspects. A dermatologist is a specialist doctor who manages skin diseases and deals with both internal and external causes and some cosmetic concerns involving the skin. Dermatological duties include taking consultations, providing screening tests, and undertaking non-invasive surgical procedures.

Among his numerous accolades, Dr. Asarch is the recipient of Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2011, 2015), Top 10 Doctor – Metro Area (2014), Top 10 Doctor – City (2014), Patients’ Choice Award (2014, 2015), and On-Time Doctor Award (2014, 2015).

Happily married, he and his wife have four sons and one daughter.
