Dr. Karen Leggett is a board certified geriatrician practicing in Sarasota, FL. She founded Leggett Medical Group and Memory Care Specialists.
Memory Care Specialists is a unique Memory Care Clinic providing full sevice memory care to patients who are living with, or have concern for, cognitive or memory decline, as well as offering support and training to their family and caregivers. Full service care starts with a comprehensive first visit where Dr Leggett is able to get to know patients in detail, followed by Neuro-gero-cognitive testing performed by Dr Leggett herself, appropriate diagnositc lab and radiology testing, for which then Dr Leggett focuses on developing a personalized comprehensive care plan to improve patients' lives both functionally and physically. Memory Care Specialists are also deeply involved in providing family and caregivers with the education and support they need to understand the care their loved one, and self need.
Leggett Medical Group is now comprised of 7 providers who specialize in comprehensive care for individuals in post acute rehabilitation after a hospitalzation as well as for residents residing in Assisted Living Facilities and Long Term Nursing Facilities. They focus on providing personalized care founded on the understanding and appreciation that the elderly deserve and need to be recognized for their experience and wisdom they have, and honored and appreciated for the valued importance they have in our society. Leggett Medical Group is diverse in caring for heart, lung, brain, kidney, liver and blood diseases as well as wounds, and musculoskeletal conditions.
As part of the foundational mission of both Memory Care Specialists and Leggett Medical Group, Dr Leggett and all of our providers focus on preventative care, personalized coaching and support on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and prevent disease.
Dr. Leggett possesses immense general knowledge on maintaining health and in addition to her board certifations in both Family Medicine and Geriatrics, she also carries a special certification in Nutrtition and Metabolic Functional Medicine.
