Dr. Satterfield earned his medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in 1978. He then went on to complete his internship and residency in thoracic surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center, followed by his residency in general surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens.

Dr. Satterfield is board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.
