Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Wissam Bleibel, who serves patients in Oregon, Ohio.

Dr. Bleibel is a skilful gastroenterologist with Mercy Health – Great Lakes Gastroenterology, located within Mercy Health – St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, Ohio.

Educated in Russia, Dr. Bleibel graduated with his medical degree from Kursk State Medical University in 2001. He then relocated to the United States, performing his residency in family medicine at Oakland Physicians Medical Center in 2005, and his residency in internal medicine at Carney Hospital in 2007. He also completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Virginia Medical Center in 2012.

Subsequent to his education, he attained board certification in gastroenterology and internal medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Holding fellowship status, Dr. Bleibel is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG) and a Fellow of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (FASGE).

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. A gastroenterologist is a physician who has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system.

Among Dr. Bleibel’s various accolades include Patients’ Choice Award (2014, 2013, 2009, 2008) and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2015, 2014, 2013).
