Recognized as a caring and compassionate Emergency Medicine Physician with a subspecialty in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Dr. Mervenne tends to patients at his private practice in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Back in the early days of his academic career, he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science and his medical degree from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. He then went on to complete his residencies in pediatrics and emergency medicine at Spectrum Health in 1995 and 1997, respectively.

Distinguished as a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP), the doctor is board-certified in emergency medicine, pediatric emergency medicine, and hospice & palliative medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM).The ABEM is one of 24 medical specialty certification boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

To boot, he is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends individuals be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.
