How much water should you drink after a chiropractic adjustment?
It depends on many factors. As a general rule, I suggest people drink half their body weight in ounces of water. For example, a 150-pound person should drink 75 oz of water. But that also depends on how much activity you are doing and how much time you're outside per day. In those cases, you may need to drink more. READ MORE
What happens when you get adjusted by a chiropractor?
It depends on the style of adjusting. However, essentially bones/joints that are out of place are put back in place which relieves the pressure on the nervous system that is causing the pain. Dr. Lesa G. Ansell, DC, APRN, AGNP-C READ MORE
Can a chiropractor help me get relief from muscle pain?
I am dual disciplined as a nurse practitioner and a chiropractor. So, I approach things a little differently. I believe in doing the least invasive thing 1st period and that would be adjustments. If a bone is rotated out of place, it puts pressure on a nerve that supplies the muscles. If that occurs, a muscle spasm can occur. Most chiropractors also use some form of electro muscle stimulation in their offices which also can help. In addition to that, in my office, we use muscle relaxer, and do trigger point injections directly into the muscles with a steroids. So, there are many approaches that would be beneficial, it just depends on what you are looking for and which approach you believe is best. Hope this helps! Dr. Lesa READ MORE
Can stress be the reason for back pain?
There certainly can be. When stressed, we often have increased muscle tension. This can put pressure on the nerves, as they exit through the openings in between the vertebrae. When this occurs, people experience pain. Sr. Lesa G. Ansell, DC, APRN, AGNP-C READ MORE
My back hurts when I sit down. Why?
Back pain comes from many causes. It can be from the muscle, bones, joints, nerves, discs, or vascular problems. To properly diagnose your specific cause requires an extensive history and exam. To "guess" would be irresponsible, and unsafe, so I encourage you to make an appointment and be properly diagnosed. READ MORE
