  • Experiencing numbness and pain after elbow fracture treatment. Why is this happening?

If it’s in just elbow area and forearm then a cutaneous nerve may have been damaged. If it goes to pinky and ring finger then ulnar nerve entrapment or damage. Peripheral nerves can heal but it’s a very slow process. Nothing to worry about but still need to get it checked to make sure in acute process isn’t occuring. READ MORE

  • My father is suffering from severe back pain. Can it be treated with manual adjustment of the spine?

I do not know. What are his symptoms, previous diagnosis, etc., he may even be a surgical candidate. Imaging and exam would tell us if it’s a treatable condition. READ MORE

  • Back exercises after adjustments?

This is strictly dependent on the diagnosis. If this is an acute problem, chronic, multiple episodes, etc... what’s the plan? I’d stick to it. READ MORE

  • Very tight neck

Well “very tight,” is a vague description to respond With any useful advice about manipulation. A/an adjustment/ manipulation cervical spine can have affectiveness to the muscle spindles gain. Or non volutional tension at rest. This possibly decreasing the tightness of your neck. It could also do the opposite. Then the question would be is this change plastic or short lived? I will stop there. However, there are many metabolic disorders, genetic disorders, etc... example would be GAD1 enzyme antibodies causes, ( https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stiff_person_syndrome) or AS (Ankylosing spondylitis). So, make an appointment with someone that is referred to by a trusted source such as another doctor or a few friends. Read reviews and plan on giving health history along with any blood work to help aid in the diagnosis. Imaging is always helpful READ MORE

  • Why does my back crack so much during an adjustment?

Cavitation - The synovial joint is a sealed system Which is contained in a vacuum. With the force is put into the tissues the joint the subjected to a negative pressure. A certain level of negative pressure nitrogen will go from liquid form to gas form which is contained in a vacuum. With the force is put into the tissues the joint the subjected to a negative pressure. A certain level of negative pressure nitrogen we’ll go from liquid form do gas form. That is the pop sound you hear. This is also why would a joint pops it takes a while for it to pop again like crack in your knuckles. The nitrogen gas to dissolve back into the fluid as the pressures equalize. READ MORE

  • Is it bad to suddenly stop chiropractic care?

Can’t think of a reason why it would, unless there’s an underlying diagnosis that is being treated and not yet fixed. After five years, this shouldn’t be the issue. READ MORE

  • Is fertility reduced with spina bifida?

    no READ MORE

  • Is scoliosis preventable?

Typically, no. I wouldn't worry about it. Different types of scoliosis. Congenital, genetic change to the vertebrae that causes a curve like a hemi-vertebrae. Idiopathic, due to increased muscle tone or decreased, opposite muscle tone on one side of a region of the spine which changes the normal curves. The explanation of this is lengthy and involves pathways of non-volitional control of muscle tone and abnormal somatosensory feedback from that region or that side of the body.. READ MORE

  • Do chiropractors typically take x-rays?

Depends, If the diagnosis is questionable or there are 'red flags' ie.. trauma, pain that wakes you up every night.......They should always be taken. If the exam is inconclusive and the history of pain is vague then again more testing should be routine. I believe in trusting your gut. We have caught many things on xray that warranted referral first. READ MORE

  • Can a chiropractor relieve muscle pain?

This is a loaded question because pain has a complicated and multiple pathways. It can even be affected by the state of the mood (depression, fear.. etc) in at the time of injury! Thats from research articles not my own theory. Muscle pain or Nociception, can be shortly inhibited by activation C-fibers for a short time will inhibit the type 4 nociceptors. so will a tens unit. Cupping, cross tissue massage, Graston Technique, Active release technique, etc are designed to help repair muscle tissue faster after injury. Manipulation to keep joints mobile and joint fluids hydrated due to lack of blood vessel all improve time of healing. In short, a Chiropractor is taught how to improve the quality of muscle tissue and healing. This should improve the pain both directly and indirectly. READ MORE

  • I had back surgery. Should I see a chiropractor or avoid it?

It could benefit and it could be more damaging. This again is hard to give a straight forward answer. really depends on the doctor. I would find a Diplomate of the American Neurology Board for this type of care. ACNB.org and locate the doctors in your area. this is a NCCA accredidation and nationally recognized. 300 Credit hours and passing boards will get you the degree. most of the profession does not have as hard requirements..
