How does spinal manipulation work?
In chiropractic we call it an adjustment. The body gets a subluxation as a way to adapt to a stress whether physical, nutritional or emotional. When your doctor adjust he is helping the body re -align structurally and decrease the stress on the nervous system. Your body naturally wants to be in the best structural alignment and lowest state of energy so it will over time stabilize with care and addressing the original stress. READ MORE
My posture is getting a little slouched. What should I do?
Doing exercises to counter your daily activities would be a good start You will also want to consider getting a disc seat cushion. It works like working on an exercise ball so your posture has to stay proper but you do not run the risk of falling off. READ MORE
I have a dull pain in my lower back. How can I treat it?
You will want to really focus on keeping your core tight while working out. That will prevent injury. Dull, achy pain may be muscular due to you working them and causing fatigue. As you get stronger, this will stop. If you have not seen improvement after about 2 weeks of working out or if you start getting more intense pain, I would contact your Dr. of Chiropractic to ensure you are not hurting yourself. I have pain in my back everytime I put on weight. Why does this happen?
When we add weight, it increases the pressure on the surface area of your body. This is particularly true for the knees and the lower back area. We generally gain weight in the mid section. The disc pressure on the lumbar L5/4 disc region standing is .5; if you are holding or adding 20 pounds of weight close to the body, it becomes 1.10 and if you bend it becomes 2.3. So, when you gain weight and are not conditioned, your lower back/discs work up to 4.6 times harder than when you are at your appropriate weight. When the body has extra stress, it gets your attention through pain, tingling, and numbness. Dr. Webb READ MORE
I have neck pain that only occurs when I lie down. What could be the reason?
You most likely do not have a pillow that is the proper support for your neck. If you have a subluxation "lack of motion in a joint of your neck" when you lay on your back if it cannot move or glide properly that will contribute to the pain. Dr. Webb READ MORE

My left shoulder is broader than the right. Is this a growth problem?
I am not sure what you mean by broader but since you have not noticed it until lately it is probably just a difference in development. The body is mostly symmetrical but some variation from side to side is common READ MORE
How is a chiropractor different from a physical therapist?
Hi, A doctor of Chiropractic is going to address your bio-mechanical alignment of the vertebrae of your back. This is called a subluxation. The doctor will bring the motion back into the joint by means of an adjustment. The joint then has an increase in motion and proper mobility. Your nervous system, that runs everything in your body, is protected by the bones (vertebrae) that make up your back. So, when you get adjusted, the nervous system also benefits. The less interference your nervous system has, the better your entire body will function. Physical therapists work with the muscle primarily. Your joints "stay" where the muscle and ligaments tell it, and the tension and nervous system tell the muscle where to go. So, when you have chiropractic care, you are addressing the underlying cause and physical therapy is addressing the support system. Which is why when you have proper motion and nerve control and combine it with physical therapy, strengthening the muscle, you can have a very powerful health care team. Hope this helps, Dr. Webb READ MORE
