As a board-certified pediatrician with over two decades of inpatient and outpatient pediatric experience, Dr. Welham remains dedicated to providing excellent care for children at Island Pediatrics of Honolulu in Hawaii. She has had the opportunity to meet and help care for patients and their families since January of 2015 and took over the practice following the owner’s (Dr. Lam) retirement in June of 2016. 

“Family is my life and I believe in a strength-based, family-centered holistic approach to health. My staff and I encourage patients and parents to ask questions and to be actively involved in their medical care. Our mission is to educate, empower, and partner with parents and children for optimal health and well-being. By instilling healthy habits early, our hope is for your child to spend as much time as possible playing, growing, and learning. Our keiki are our future and their health and the health of our families is everything. We take the job of caring for your child’s health very seriously.” as stated by Dr. Welham.

Alongside her current role in the pediatric profession, she serves as a Health Consultant for Keiki O Ka ‘ Āina Family Learning Centers and is on the Advisory Committee for Healthy Child Care Hawaii Social Emotional and Behavioral Health Committee. She is also affiliated with Kapiʻolani Medical Center for Women and Children.

A 1998 graduate of the John A. Burns School of Medicine – University of Hawaii, Dr. Welham went on to complete her residency at the same educational venue. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, a Board Member of Family Voices Hawaii, and a Member at Large of the American Academy of Pediatrics – Hawaii Chapter. 

Moreover, the doctor is board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics, which is an independent, nonprofit organization whose certification is recognized throughout the world as a credential signifying a high level of physician competence. 

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. As a pediatrician, Dr. Welham examines, diagnoses, and treats children of all ages with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses. She understands that children change rapidly and they must be approached with an appreciation for their stage of physical and mental development. 

In her personal life, Dr. Welham is the mother of two wonderful teenagers and the wife of a retired Navy P3 pilot.
