Bringing a wealth of expertise to his practice, Dr. Leis focuses on advanced surgical techniques that include arthroscopic rotator cuff and labral repairs, total and reverse total shoulder replacements, and Tommy John reconstruction of the elbow. His skill set also encompasses the management of complex wrist and hand fractures, as well as minimally invasive procedures such as endoscopic carpal tunnel release and arthroscopic surgeries of the elbow, wrist, and thumb. His commitment to innovation is evident in his interest in total elbow and wrist replacements, and small joint replacements of the thumb and hand, ensuring his patients benefit from the latest advancements in orthopaedic surgery.

Dr. Leis earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Washington in Seattle, followed by medical training at the F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine at Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, Maryland. His impressive credentials include an orthopaedic residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas, and a prestigious fellowship at the San Antonio Hand Center, specializing in complex disorders of the upper extremities.

As a board certified physician by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Leis is an active participant in several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the Mississippi State Medical Association, and the Mississippi Orthopaedic Society. He is affiliated with various esteemed medical facilities, including Bienville Surgery Center, Ocean Springs Hospital, Singing River Hospital, Merit Health - Biloxi, Memorial Hospital - Gulfport, Memorial Surgery Center at Cedar Lake, and Memorial Surgery Center Gulf South.

A recognized leader in the field, Dr. Leis serves as a scientific clinical advisor for multiple national orthopaedic companies and is engaged in cutting-edge research focused on small joint arthroplasty of the wrist, thumb, and hand. He remains passionate about incorporating innovative techniques and technologies to optimize surgical outcomes for his patients.

Dr. Leis’ commitment to advancing orthopaedic care has earned him several prestigious accolades, including the USAF Surgeon General’s Award for Outstanding Resident Research in 1995. Building on this achievement, he was honored in 2001 with the Roy Davis Outstanding Resident Research Award from the San Antonio Orthopaedic Association and the Texas Orthopaedic Association Outstanding Resident Research Award. In 2003, Dr. Leis was further recognized with the Pacific Air Force Outstanding Clinical Surgeon Award.
