About

Ohlenforst Carney Orthodontics is one of the few female owned sole practitioner orthodontic offices in North Dallas, TX. Dr. Carney is a residency trained, Board Certified orthodontist. She sees every patient in her North Dallas office every day. Dr. Carney also has years of experience working with special needs patients. She worked at a pediatric dental office in Dallas during her college summers, has picked up a thing or two from her child psychologist sister, and is still gleaning as much orthodontic insight from orthodontist father’s 40+ years of experience. At Ohlenforst Carney Orthodontics in North Dallas, we truly aim to treat our patients as we would treat our family members while also providing the specialized care you’d expect from a specially trained, board certified orthodontist in Dallas.

Dr. Carney also knows your time is valuable; we do not like to run late! Dr. Carney has been nominated for several awards/listings including D Magazine Best orthodontists for 6 years running, DFW Child Mom-Approved Choice, Super Dentists, and had her award winning research published in the American Journal of Orthodontics.

Areas of research

Effects of pilot holes on longitudinal miniscrew stability and bony adaptationHighlights
  • •Miniscrew implants (MSIs) in the mandible with or without pilot holes were stable over the short term.
  • •MSIs stability decreased during the first 3 weeks, increased during the next 2 weeks, and then decreased again.
  • •MSIs with pilot holes should be placed with a light constant force to enhance stability.
  • •Seven weeks after placement, MSIs without pilot holes exhibit delayed or diminished healing.
  • Introduction
The purposes of this study were to longitudinally evaluate the effects of pilot holes on miniscrew implant (MSI) stability and to determine whether the effects can be attributed to the quality or the quantity of bone surrounding the MSI.
