Get to know Neurosurgeon Dr. Emilio C. Tayag, who serves patients throughout the State of California.

A board-certified neurosurgeon, Dr. Tayag is affiliated with Arrowhead Neurosurgical Medical Group, Inc., serving patients at Desert Regional Medical Center, Redlands Community Hospital, and Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.

Arrowhead Neurosurgical Medical Group, Inc. strives to provide exceptional neurosurgical care.  The group understands the need to examine a patient’s neurological condition in the context of the whole patient, their unique circumstances, their family, and their community. They believe in a team approach to care, working with referring doctors, therapists, neurologists, and pain management physicians to accurately diagnose and manage patients’ neurosurgical conditions, and when or if the time is right, support them and their families through the surgical process with dignity and compassion.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Tayag obtained his medical degree from the University of the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in the Philippines, and completed his surgical internship at Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital in New York. He completed his residency in Neurology at The ​Los Angeles County University of Southern California Medical Center, and his residency in Neurosurgery at Tulane University, and he completed a Neuro Rehabiliation Fellowship. Later, he completed his fellowship in Neurointerventional Surgery at Desert Regional Medical Center.

Passionate about his profession, the doctor is board-certified in neurosurgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, whose broad aim is to encourage the study, improve the practice, elevate the standards, and advance the science of neurological surgery and thereby serve the cause of public health.

Moreover, he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

On a professional level, Dr. Tayag is a proud member of the American Association of Neurological Surgery, and the Congress of Neurological Surgery.

Neurosurgery is the medical specialty concerned with the prevention, diagnosis, surgical treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders which affect any portion of the nervous system including the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and extra-cranial cerebrovascular system. Neurosurgeons are doctors who diagnose and treat problems with the nervous system, often by performing surgery on the brain or spine. They treat strokes, tumors, certain types of birth defects, infections, and head or spinal cord injuries.

Speaking multiple languages, Dr. Tayag is fluent in English, Spanish, Filipino, and Tagalog.
