Neurology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study and treatment of disorders of the nervous system. Neurologists are medical specialists who diagnose and treat disorders that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, and muscles of patients. They examine a patient’s mental and physical status, conduct medical tests and scans, and evaluate the results to diagnose and treat the patient.
With years of experience in her field, Dr. Afshari attributes her success to being highly motivated, responsible, and empathetic to patient suffering, much like the characteristics of her immigrant parents. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her daughter and cats, gardening, doing volunteer work, and making house calls.
