What does a pediatric chiropractor do?
A pediatric Chiropractor will take a history, do a physical exam, and perform specific spinal adjustments if needed. X-rays may be ordered if there are signs of scoliosis, leg length inequality, or any other spinal abnormality that may be contributing to your areas of concern. It will also depend what your goals are for your child. Diet and exercises associated with certain conditions can be advised along with sending you to another provider if needed. Adjustments are gentle and can be done manually or with an activator or impulse adjusting instrument. Benefits of chiropractic that many parents report: improved sleep, digestion, improved nursing in infants, less illness and infections with more rapid recovery, improved behavior, improved concentration and mood, better connection and perception of their environment. Chiropractic is a form of alternative medicine that mainly deals with the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. A chiropractor uses spinal adjustments, manipulation, and other techniques to manage patients’ health concerns, including neck pain, back pain, headaches, vertigo and a long list of other ailments and conditions. They aim to improve patients’ functionality and quality of life by properly aligning the body’s musculoskeletal structure and enabling the body to heal itself naturally, without the use of medication or surgery.
