  • How does a chiropractor adjust your pelvis?

Chiropractors are trained in several techniques when it comes to making adjustments. The common techniques you would typically see involves laying the patient on their side which is called side posture in Chiropractic medicine and depending on the direction the hip/pelvis needs to be corrected dictates where the doctor would place his or her hand. Usually it is placed on your pelvis near the small of your back (contact point) and a push or pull of the doctors hand will set the hips/pelvis back into place. The other common technique is to use what is called a drop table or Thompson table in which you (the patient) would be laying prone (face down) and a section of the table underneath your pelvis pops up and the doctor places his hands in the direction of correction and applies a firm push and the table section drops. It is a fairly gentle technique and many patients prefer it. Those are some examples, but there are other ways as well. I hope this answers your question. READ MORE

  • Why does my pelvis keep shifting?

Hello, The reason your hips keep shifting can vary. It is not usually one reason, but a combination of spinal and pelvic misalignment along with muscle tension patterns (imbalance) in the glutes, hamstrings, or even the quadriceps in the front of the upper leg. If you have been pregnant in the past, that can play a role as well. I hope this helps. READ MORE

  • Do chiropractors offer free consultations?

Yes, most chiropractic offices will offer a consultation visit at no charge, but I will say if other services are rendered at the visit such as X-ray or exam, then you would probably be charged a fee. READ MORE

  • Sharp, shooting pain in my right leg

Hello, Based on the information you provided it is possible that you may be experiencing sciatic nerve pain, but a true "sciatica", is when the pain is constant and travels from the lower back/hip area all the way down the back of the leg to the foot. If the pain travels to the back of the leg, but stops around the knee or above, then that is called radiculopathy and most likely is caused by the Sacroiliac Joint (SI joint) misalignment and muscle tension.
