With an impressive professional journey that spans over five decades, Dr. Valeri also served as a Professor of Medicine and Research and Professor of Surgery at the Boston University School of Medicine, a Professor of Medicine at Tufts Veterinary School, and as a Lecturer in Surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine. Moreover, he is a retired Navy Captain. 

After earning his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston, he went on to complete his residency in internal medicine at Boston City Hospital and New England Medical Center.  Wanting to further his training, he completed his fellowship in hematology at the Boston City Hospital. 

Thereafter, the doctor earned board certification through the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. He also earned fellowship status with the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the American College of Physicians.

C. Robert Valeri, MD, FACP, attended Harvard Medical School in Massachusetts, and received his medical degree in 1958. Furthermore, he conducted his internal medicine residency at Tufts Medical Center and Boston University Medical Center (1958-1961). In addition, he completed his fellowship training in hematology at Boston University Medical Center. In addition, Dr. Valeri received board certification in internal medicine and hematology from the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is a member Emeritus of the American Society for Clinical Investigation and attained fellowship of the American College of Physicians. In 2009, Dr. Valeri received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Armed Services Blood Program. His outstanding work led to FDA Licensure of rejuvenated and non-rejuvenated frozen red blood cells, DMSO as platelet cryoprotectant; fresh frozen plasma stored for 7 years at –80 C; and most recently, deglycerolized red blood cells with a two-week post-thaw shelf life.
