For Dr. Chokshi, his decision to pursue a career in medicine was a natural one. With an interest in science cultivated in his youth, he felt drawn to the field from a young age. Looking back, he recalls his decision to become a doctor while studying chemistry as an undergraduate at Cornell: “I wanted to do something to make a difference and I can’t imagine how I could have done anything else. I wanted to do research at first and so I majored in chemistry as an undergrad thinking I could work in a lab. I then became interested in medicine because it was a direct way of helping people.”
Dr. Chokshi is board-certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. Additionally, Dr. Chokshi is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American College of Gastroenterology.
