Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Marcelino F. Dsouza, who serves patients in New York.

An internationally trained obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Dsouza continues to provide exceptional care and support to his patients within General Physicians located in New York. He specializes in low and high risk obstetrics and general gynecology, with a special interest in infertility and reproductive endocrinology.

Before embarking on his professional journey, Dr. Dsouza earned his Bachelor of Science degree from St. Xavier College in Mumbai, India. He graduated with his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from Topiwala Medical School, and completed a residency at the Frimley Park Hospital in London, England. After relocating to the United States, he completed an additional residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Buffalo.

With over four decades of experience in his field, the doctor is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

Achieving fellowship status, Dr. Dsouza is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

In his professional experience, he has provided free breast care screening service to uninsured women in West New York in collaboration with Winding Radiology. He is also affiliated with Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. 

As for his academic appointment, Dr. Dsouza serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts). 

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Dsouza has been the recipient of various awards and accolades, including the Teaching Excellence Award for Residents by the School of Medicine at SUNY (1979), Teaching Excellence Award for Residents by SUNY at Buffalo (2008), Patients’ Choice Award (2014, 2013, 2012, 2011), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2016, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011).
