Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Pierre Hindy, who serves patients in Brooklyn, New York.

Dr. Hindy, a board-certified gastroenterologist, treats a wide variety of conditions, including colon cancer, pancreatic disease, liver disease, esophageal reflux, celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and functional gastrointestinal disorders. He also has expertise in the management of the liver, pancrea, and biliary disease with a special interest in reflux disease and motility disorders.

Currently, he is in practice at Gastroenterology Associates of Brooklyn in Brooklyn, New York. The practice is committed to providing patients with a superior level of care in a friendly and personalized environment. All of the board-certified professionals working there have completed extensive education, clinical training, and specialized training in their areas of expertise. Driven to constantly improve their knowledge and the services they provide, they frequently attend conferences and society meetings to learn about the latest advancements in the field and offer these techniques and technologies to their patients. 

In his professional experience, Dr. Hindy is an attending physician at Beth Israel Mount Sinai, New York Community Hospital, and New York Methodist. He is also active in the education of gastroenterology fellows at Downstate Medical Center, where he served as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. 

Throughout his academic career, he earned his Medical Degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He then went on to complete his residency and fellowship training in internal medicine and gastroenterology at the State University of New York, where he was elected as Chief Resident and Chief Fellow. His comprehensive training allowed him to develop excellent skills in basic endoscopic procedures needed for the diagnosis and management of colorectal cancer screening, peptic ulcer disease, and inflammatory bowel disease.

A Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, he is board-certified in both gastroenterology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. Moreover, he is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American Gastroenterology Association, the American Medical Association, and the New York Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Among the doctor’s many accomplishments, he is a published researcher and has authored over 30 abstracts, papers, and chapters. His research has received the American College of Gastroenterology Presidential Award. He is also the recipient of many national awards, including the prestigious Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award.

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. A gastroenterologist is a physician who has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the esophagus, stomach, intestines, and biliary system. 

In addition to English, Dr. Hindy is fluent in Arabic and French.
