Recognized nationally and internationally in the field of endocrinology, Dr. Villabona is an expert on thyroid disorders, diabetes, as well as adrenal, pituitary, and other hormonal disorders. She is highly trained and certified in performing thyroid ultrasounds and fine-needle aspiration biopsies of thyroid nodules, as well as manages and prescribes efficiently the latest technology and devices for the care of patients with diabetes.
Serving as the Founder of Endocrinology Consultants of South Florida, PLLC, she and her team deliver excellent care in every single aspect to residents in Coral Springs, Florida. They provide high quality, compassionate, and personable level service to patients every day.
The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began after she earned her medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Salamanca in Spain in 1998. Upon relocating to the United States, she served her residency in internal medicine at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, Illinois, followed by her fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
In 2008, Dr. Villabona joined the Endocrinology and Diabetes practice at Cleveland Clinic Florida, where she built the inpatient diabetes program, chaired the Multidisciplinary Diabetes Committee, and the CME Committee, as well as directed the Endocrinology Research Fellowship, while also managing her daily physician practice. She has mentored multiple physicians, students, and residents, as well as released various publications and quality improvement projects in her role as the Director of the Endocrinology Research Fellowship. As CME Committee Chair, she developed various educational programs for caregivers, while receiving various recognitions along the way. Finally, in 2019, she decided to build her own endocrinology practice and founded Endocrinology Consultants of South Florida, PLLC.
As a testament to her success, Dr. Villabona is board-certified in internal medicine and endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine, which is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
To advance her professional efforts, she remains a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, the American Diabetes Association, the Endocrine Society, and the American Thyroid Association.
