My 9 year old son wheezes a lot and requires frequent nebulizer treatment. Will this impact his health in the long run?
Frequent albuterol treatments won't affect his health negatively, but it probably means that his asthma is not well controlled. Perhaps he should be seen and placed on another asthma treatment plan. Thanks. Jarret Patton, MD FAAP READ MORE

Can children skip a few milestones as they are growing up?
This is a common phenomenon especially with crawling. I have seen hundreds of babies skip crawling and go straight to walking. There is no long-term problem with this in terms of growth or development. Enjoy that you have an active infant and follow other milestones like her being able to pick up a cheerio and her speech development. My little one is passing extremely watery stools for the last 2 days. Could it be diarrhea?
It certainly could be diarrhea. In a 3-month-old, your main concern is dehydration. If the diarrhea does not stop by day 3 or if the baby can't drink frequently to replenish the loss, you should take her to the doctor. My baby is 4 months old and has not passed stools for the last 4 days. What should I do?
As long as the baby appears comfortable and is eating normally, 4 days is OK. If it goes to 5 days, you should have your doctor examine her just to make sure. Jarret Patton, MD, FAAP READ MORE
How important are multivitamin supplements?
Typically, there is not enough Vitamin D in the diet, especially for those that live in temperate climates that aren't able to get sunlight on their skin year round. Most vitamins are obtained from your children's nutrition provided they eat the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables daily. For additional tips for your children, follow up on FB at doctorjarret for two "sense" tuesdays at 1:00PM EST. However, we have seen a lot more Vitamin D deficiency in recent years, thus the recommendation for the multivitamin. Thank you. READ MORE

How can i decrease my child’s anxiety about school?
Hello, School anxiety can be something that troubles many children. It is difficult to see your child get so upset about going to school, but establishing a hard routine is a good strategy to start. The drop off procedure is essential in setting the expectations. When you arrive to school, be sure to drop him off and don't linger to watch, react to and handle the reaction; simply leave. After being consistent with this, the reaction tends to extinguish. Find useful tips like this follow me at doctorjarret on fb. However, with some children behavioral therapists or counselors can be effective to help with this transition. I hope he gets better. Jarret Patton MD FAAP READ MORE

Is my child's hyperactivity due to Claritin?
Hello. I am sorry to hear about the difficulty that your daughter has during the fall allergy season. In some cases, children can have a hyper response to antihistimines (which Claritin is a class of.) Hopefully the allergy season will be over soon, or you may want to see your doctor for a nasal spray. For more helpful tips you can follow me on fb at doctorjarret. Thank you. Meltdowns Behaviour
The best thing to do associated with your child's behavior is to ignore the outbursts. Typically teachers know how to handle the situation at school and the behavior extinguishes quickly. After several attempts of completely ignoring the outburst you will notice he will stop them. I address this exact problem in my upcoming book because it is common for parents to have this problem. If he notices that you have a reaction, he will continue the outbursts. For more helpful tips and updates I am on fb at doctorjarret. Jarret Patton MD FAAP READ MORE
