  • What causes boils inside the eyes?

Boils on the inside of the eyelids can be an internal stye which is caused by a clogged gland. The glands on the lids can become clogged from make-up, pollen, pollution, dry skin, and bacteria. Not blinking properly will also cause the oil in the glands to solidify. The lids need to be cleaned daily with a lid cleanser and warm compresses will help too. • What causes eye floaters?

The material inside your eyes is called the vitreous. The vitreous is a jelly-like substance that becomes more liquid as you age. When this happens, the microscopic collagen fibers within the vitreous tend to clump together. This debris cast tiny shadows onto your retina, and you perceive these shadows as eye floaters. The brain can over time ignore the shadows and sometimes the shadows will float down with gravity. If the vision becomes blurry or if you see something flapping in your vision or waterfalls in your vision or missing parts of your vision then get your eyes examined immediately. READ MORE

  • What causes dry eyes?

Dry eyes can be caused by a variety of reasons. Your tear film has three layers: fatty oils, aqueous fluid and mucus. The tear film layers keep the surface of your eyes lubricated, smooth and clear. If any of the layers are disrupted then that can lead to dry eyes. Tear film dysfunction can be caused by many things including hormone changes, autoimmune disease, environmental, medications, inflamed eyelid glands, or allergic eye disease. When the tear layers are disrupted then it will cause either decreased tear production or increased tear evaporation and/or inflammation. READ MORE

She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She then went on to pursue her dream and obtained a Doctor of Optometry degree from Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago in 2005.

During her academic career, she served as President of the National Optometric Student Association, Residential Complex Ambassador, tutor, teaching assistant, and Lions Club Charter member. Upon graduation, Dr. Love obtained a license to practice optometry in Florida and Georgia. She began filling in at private and commercial offices in the Atlanta metro area. After 1 ½ years of filling in for various doctors, she took over a Wal-mart Vision Center and began building her practice, Bella Vista Family Eyecare. She has served as an internship preceptor for the Health Careers Academy at East Ridge High School and the University of Central Florida Healthcare Management Program.

Optometry is a health care profession that involves examining the eyes and applicable visual systems for defects or abnormalities, as well as diagnosing and managing eye disease. Optometrists are healthcare professionals who provide primary eye care through comprehensive eye examinations to detect and treat various visual abnormalities and eye diseases. Being a regulated profession, an optometrist’s scope of practice may differ depending on the location. Thus, disorders or diseases detected outside the treatment scope of optometry (i.e. those requiring certain surgical interventions) are referred out to relevant medical professionals for proper care, more commonly to ophthalmologists who are physicians that specialize in the tertiary medical and surgical care of the eye. Optometrists typically work closely together with other eye care professionals, such as ophthalmologists and opticians, to deliver quality and efficient eye care to the general public.

With an intense desire to serve her community, Dr. Love currently participates in several community vision screenings, food drives, and church activities. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys spending quality time with family, traveling, and scrapbooking.
