Get to know Orthodontist Dr. Rosalie Brao, who serves patients throughout the State of Florida.
A trusted orthodontist, Dr. Brao is affiliated with Gulf Coast Orthodontics, with offices in Fort Myers, Estero, and Naples, Florida. She practices a full-scope of orthodontics—working with children, teens, and adults. She enjoys interdisciplinary cases, interceptive, surgical, orthopedic, and craniofacial orthodontics. She is also well-trained in 3D treatment planning, clear aligner treatment, and temporary anchorage devices (mini-screws).
With a broad educational background, she pursued a double major in Chemistry and Zoology, with a minor in Health Sciences, at the University of Florida (UF). Her passion for dentistry led her to the University of California, San Francisco, where she obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with honors.
During her time at dental school, Dr. Brao held numerous leadership roles focused on promoting access to higher education for students from diverse backgrounds. She also dedicated her time to volunteering at soup kitchens and dental clinics, demonstrating her commitment to serving her local community.
Following the completion of dental school, she practiced as a general dentist in Northern California for several years. However, her pursuit of excellence and passion for orthodontics led her back to her alma mater, UF, where she completed a 3-year orthodontic residency program. She earned a Certificate in Orthodontics and a Master of Science degree in Dental Sciences during her residency.
As part of her program, Dr. Brao conducted groundbreaking research on a novel Botox conjugate for orofacial pain, culminating in a thesis that she wrote, defended, and presented. Her exceptional research earned her recognition as a Research Scholar by the American Association of Orthodontics (AAO).
Dedicated to giving back to her community, she is involved in volunteer work as a dentist at the Neighborhood Health Clinic. She also contributes to the education of future dental professionals by teaching orthodontics to pediatric dentistry residents at the University of Florida Department of Pediatric Dentistry.
Orthodontics is a specialty of dentistry that deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and correction of malpositioned teeth and jaws. Orthodontists are responsible for identifying problems with the positioning of a patient’s teeth and with their oral development. They utilize the most advanced procedures and equipment available to ensure that every patient achieves a healthy and beautiful smile.
Recognized as a Pierre Fauchard Academy Fellow, Dr. Brao’s outstanding achievements in academics, leadership, and community service earned her prestigious awards, including the Delta Dental Scholarship for “Scholastic Ability and Dedication to Dentistry,” the Milton and Mary Gabbs Award for “Highest Moral, Ethical and Professional Achievement,” and the International College of Dentists Leadership Award. Additionally, she graduated at the top of her class and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental honor society.
On a more personal note, she met her husband, Alex, during their time in college, and they both share a passion for dentistry. They reside in Naples, Florida, along with their two energetic children, Stella and Matias. To add more excitement to their lives, they welcomed a Lagotto Romagnolo puppy, bringing joy and fun to their household. She treasures moments with her loved ones, enjoys spending time on the water, and enthusiastically supports the Florida Gators. She also has a love for baking, exploring the culinary delights of southwest Florida’s restaurants, hosting dinner parties, and indulging in her interest in tennis.
