Parma University Hospital is proud to announce the continued leadership of Dr. Basel Altaqi, MD, as the Associate Program Director of the Internal Medicine Residency. With a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to education, Dr. Altaqi has been an invaluable member of the Parma University Hospital team, enhancing the training and development of future internal medicine specialists.

Dr. Altaqi holds multiple certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine, including Critical Care Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Internal Medicine. His extensive training and qualifications position him as a leading authority in the field, making a significant impact on the residency program and the hospital’s patient care initiatives.

Dr. Altaqi completed his medical education at the esteemed University of Aleppo in 2000. He further honed his expertise through a rigorous residency in Internal Medicine at St. Vincent Charity Hospital/St. Luke’s Medical Center from 2002 to 2005. Following this, he undertook a fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care at Tulane University Hospital and Clinic, where he expanded his knowledge and skills from 2008 to 2011.
