Efficient, decisive, and with a keen eye for details, Dr. Kalassian is a quadruple board certified pulmonologist and critical care physician.
Having practiced medicine for more than 25 years, he has practiced in academic medicine with faculty appointments at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Emory University, as well as in private practice and community hospital settings.
His areas of specialization include critical care medicine, cardiac arrest, stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, cardiogenic shock, ECMO, respiratory failure, pneumonia, COVID – 19, multiorgan failure, septic shock, and pulmonary embolism.
A 1991 graduate of Stanford University School of Medicine, Dr. Kalassian went on to perform his residency in internal medicine with Stanford Health Care-Sponsored Stanford University from 1991 to 1994.
Subsequently, he pursued two fellowships in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine, the first from 1994 to 1995, and the second from 1995 to 1997, both sponsored by Stanford Health Care.
With years of experience and training, Dr. Kalassian is board certified in pulmonology medicine, internal medicine, and critical care medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Furthermore, he is board certified in neurocritical care medicine by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties (UCNS). Achieving subspecialty certification through the UCNS is the recognition that a physician has met the requirements and standards of knowledge set by experts in the subspecialty and with the oversight of a peer-reviewed process.
Holding fellowship status, Dr. Kalassian is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP).
