Get to know Ophthalmologist Dr. Jon Konti, who serves patients in Arizona.

As a board-certified and fellowship-trained ophthalmologist, Dr. Konti’s areas of focus include cataract surgery with multifocal and toric lens implantation, refractive surgery (LASIK, PRK), corneal transplantation including advanced procedures such as DSEK (Descemet Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty), and DALK (Deep Anterior Lamellar Keratoplasty, primarily for treating Keratoconus). Specializing in corneal and refractive surgery, he joined the practice of Ophthalmic Surgeons & Physicians, Ltd. in August of 2011.

With offices in Tempe and Ahwatukee/Phoenix, Arizona, Ophthalmic Surgeons & Physicians, Ltd. has provided the highest level of eye care for more than 35 years. The team of professionals working there strive to provide the most comprehensive eye care available by offering a wide range of ophthalmic services, operating on the principle that the patient’s care is put first and foremost.

An honors graduate of The Ohio State University, Dr. Konti completed his medical training at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio, where he received his medical degree. He then went on to  complete his residency in ophthalmology at University Hospitals/Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. After residency, he completed a cornea and refractive surgery fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

With an unwavering commitment to his specialty, the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, which is an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. They may provide routine care such as vision testing, as well as prescribe and fit eyeglasses or contact lenses. However, ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery.
