Get to know Family Physician Dr. Sylvia L. Garcia, who serves patients in Whittier, California.

Dr. Garcia, a highly respected family physician, is the Medical Director of Picasso Medical Aesthetics & Spa in Whittier, California. 

Under her guidance, Picasso Medical Aesthetics & Spa provides a diverse range of treatments for women and men such as: Wrinkle Reduction, Fillers, Skin Rejuvenation, Laser Hair Removal, Sun Spot Removal, Skin Resurfacing (laser), Non-Surgical Face Lift (laser), 3Deep and Micro-pen (Eye and Skin Rejuvenation).

“Cosmetic medicine is a growing and exciting aspect of medicine that, over the years, has peaked my interests not only as a physician, but as a woman. After extensive research through the years, I feel that I have been able to combine my interest in beauty with my knowledge of medicine” says Dr. Garcia.

Her acclaimed career in medicine began after she earned her Medical Degree from the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine in 1989. She then went on to perform her residency in family medicine at Adventist Health White Memorial from 1989 until 1992.  

As a testament of her continued education, Dr. Garcia is board certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice family medicine and its sub-specialties.

In affiliation with many professional organizations, Dr. Garcia is an active member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, the Los Angeles County Medical Association, the California Medical Association, the American Society for Laser Medicine & Surgery, and the Whittier Chamber of Commerce.

With over two decades of experience, she has been on multiple quality review committees and has been associated with the teaching faculty of various residency programs, including USC and PIH. 

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility.
