What the Heck is Tech Neck?
No matter where you go these days, it’s difficult to not see someone on a device looking down with their head forward in a stooped posture. This is the new epidemic called “Tech Neck” and it’s affecting everyone, especially our children. The average phone user spends more than 2-4 hours a...
Is chiropractic treatment good for hip arthritis?
With over 30 years of experience of assisting people in their charge back to optimial health, we at Rhino Chiropractic & Holistic Wellness Center in Rockville Centre have seen many arthritic conditions improve. Often the symptoms of inflammation, mobility and improved function are the most common benefits of structural corrective chiropractic. Each individual case should be thoroughly analyzed to determine the best care plan. Degeneration, duration and age are all important factors to consider when evaluating arthritis. In most cases it is difficult to reverse arthritis but reducing pain and slowing down the degenerative process is possible. Find yourself a holistic structural chiropractor and start healing and feeling better. READ MORE
Why do I get headaches after chiropractic care?
This is not typical though occasionally patients will have soreness after the adjustments. Processes like unwinding and retracing are also reasons that could be triggering these headaches. It would be good to know where you have had headaches in the past or if it’s just since getting adjusted. A few other factors may be the culprit. One common cause is that your spine has been out of alignment for a long time and getting it back into the correct position is shifting ligaments and muscles that haven’t moved in quite some time. Another reason we have occasionally seen us that pay placing the spine in the correct position the body isn’t used that new placement affecting nerve sensations. If a patient is exceptionally toxic and inflamed due to systemic processes or inflammatory diets it could be a detox effect. Some patients aren’t consistently doing their corrective care exercises and traction of the cervical spine which doesn’t allow the muscles and ligaments to respond as favorably to the adjustment. Loss of the normal c-shaped curve in the neck can cause chronic issues. Finally but least likely the style, approach, or type of adjustment isn’t working for your body. Either have the Dr reanalyze the X-rays of the neck and shift adjustments accordingly or possibly seek another Chiro for a new fresh look. Either way, keep getting your power turned on with the healing power of chiropractic!!!! READ MORE

What pillow do chiropractors recommend?
One that supports the proper c-shape of your neck. Typically back sleeping with correct cervical pillow will do wonders. Some may be a bit sore or have difficulty with back sleeping, a pillow under the knees and on each side of the body between arm and side can help you from rolling and unwanted lower back pain. Have your chiropractor recommend the right one for you. READ MORE
Can a chiropractor be beneficial after childbirth?
Absolutely we have found Chiropractic both prenatal as well as postnatal to be incredibly beneficial. While pregnant your hormones are softening and stretching ligaments to expand the pelvis to allow for the birth of the baby. Though this process necessary it also creates instability and vulnerability to the spine and surrounding nerves. This is why symptoms like sciatica (excruciating pain down the leg) and carpal tunnel (pain in wrist into hand) are very common during and after pregnancy. If you are considering Chiropractic for your spine there is no better time than after the birth of your child. It’s a no brainer for pain relief but can also help with stress relief from sleepless nights and fatigue. Good luck and happy adjusting. READ MORE

Great question. I love massage as a chiropractor for my tight achey muscles. But nothing give me more results and relief and healing than my chiropractic adjustments. If you have the time and the finances do both it’s a great combo. READ MORE
Do chiropractors treat muscle pain?
Thanks for asking because that is often a question I get in the office. The word treat is a tricky one it implies we are doing something to cure or fix your issue but in our office the philosophy is to allow the body to heal itself by removing the interference in the nervous system by giving a chiropractic adjustment (realignment). We see a tremendous amount of our patients who have arm and back pain get great long lasting results with chiropractic. Give it a try and you’ll be pleasantly surprised. READ MORE
How long does a chiropractic adjustment for neck pain last?
Great question. It will depend because each chiropractor has a different technique, philosophy and approach to care. So in our office once a thorough analysis Us performed and care plan is uniquely customized for you then a specific and directed adjustment would be delivered to the correct spinal area to correct subluxation(spinal misalignments) for most the amount of time we spend is inconsequential as long as the greatest results are achieved. So most patients are very happy to be in and out within the 5-10 minute with minimal wait time as long as they feel healthier. This is at least what comes along with being a practice member of Rhino Chiropractic. READ MORE
How should you sleep if you have scoliosis?
Scoliosis in and of itself is not always painful or limiting in anyway except in severe cases. The real challenge comes with the idea of living with and maintaining scoliosis as if it has to be a life long issue. We have seen hundreds of cases over the years correct their spinal curvatures with out awkward braces and harmful invasive surgeries. So specific sleeping recommendations I am unable to give with out having a thorough consultation and evaluation. At Rhino Chiropractic we recommend specific solutions that improve patients spinal alignment and over health reducing the effects of scoliosis to the nervous system. Give a great Chiropractor a try and start sleeping and living a healthier life free from subluxations(spinal misalignments). READ MORE
What happens when a chiropractor cracks your neck?
Probably one if the most commonly asked questions and misunderstood concepts about Chiropractic and being adjusted. Many have not given chiropractic it’s fair shake because of the fear of the “cracking” sound you often hear when getting adjusted(re-aligned). The truth is with an adjustment which makes a cavitation(the correct term for the cracking noise). At Rhino Chiropractic we explain to our patients the term adjusting rather than crack, pop, snap or manipulate. Though it may seem just a matter of semantics the words used to define things can affect perception and value. We educate patients that nothing is breaking, snapping or injuring when a specific chiropractic adjustment are performed based on proper analysis of the spine and biomechanically marked X-rays. I tell patients even though they love their adjustments and it could get addicting being in the correct alignment free from nervous system interference....Don’t get hooked on the “crack” READ MORE
How many chiropractic adjustments does it take to work?
Common question and unfortunately the answer will have to be an unsatisfactory “It Depend”. With that being said the amount of adjustments needed for a specific condition does not have any definitive stats but their are many factors that will affect the duration of care. At Rhino Chiropractic we have for 20 years this February been recommending care plans to patients for their specific health conditions. The age of the patient as well duration of the problem are major factors. A person’s lifestyle and hereditary factors all play an integral roll in determining clinical recommendations. I have found in order to make ligamentous changes in spinal joints and achieving structural spinal correction consistent specific repetitive adjustments must be performed in order to see long lasting results. We have seen this approach to be far more beneficial than just receiving A few adjustments for initial crisis care (pain relief). There is so much more to Chiropractic care than pain relief or pain management. Though the pain is usually the motivation to initially seek care I highly recommend exploring a great Chiropractor to help you achieve your optimal potential with a properly aligned spine! READ MORE
